Synastry - astrology of relationships

Synastry, or partnership horoscope, is a method in astrology that is used to understand how two people's energies interact by interpreting the people's unique birth charts together.

You look at planetary aspects, i.e. where your partner's different planetary placements fall in your birth chart and which areas of life are activated. Where do your partner's Sun, Moon, Ascendant, Mars and Venus fall in your birth chart? What areas do they activate in your life? And what activates your placements in your partner?

House overlay is a simple technique for seeing the general energy between two people by seeing in which of your houses your partner's sun falls. Start with the whole house system, which is the simplest, and then add Placidus. Synastry with solar houses

Synastry with solar houses means that we see where one person's sun (or other planets) falls in your birth chart. By identifying which of the 12 houses it falls in to it will reveal how they light up different life areas in your life.

☉ 1st house

Reflects your essence, identity and personality. It can be perceived as being truly seen and accepted for who you are and there is a shared sense of understanding and reasonance.

Reflects your self-worth and be someone who will be very valuable to you in terms of self-worth, values, personal resources and material security.

☉ 3rd house

Reflects a communicative and intellectual dynamic that activates communication, writing and mental processes. Easygoing and enthusiastic communication.

☉ 4th house

Reflects value around family and roots. Often someone you feel at home with. A loving dymaic that makes you feel emotionally stable.

☉ 5th house

Reflects a fun, varied, creative and passionate dynamic. Someone who contributes playfulness, creativity and romance. 

☉ 6th house

Reflects organization, and productivity in daily life such as routines, work, exercise, diet and health.

☉ 7th house

Reflects relationship qualities for romantic partners and other partnerships such as business partners. It is common to feel a strong attraction to a person who has their sun in your 7th house. The person can be the perfect partner but also reflect aspects you need to integrate.

☉ 8th house

Reflects an intense and deeply transformative relationship, which often involves intimacy, shared resources, and subconscious processes.

☉ 9th house

Reflects someone who can influence current areas connected to abroad, travel and expansion. Moving abroad with a partner, long-distance relationship, someone with a different background and the like.

☉10th house

Someone you look up to and are inspired by when it comes to career, visions and ambitions as it represents the career house and the highest part of your birth chart.

☉ 11th house

A dynamic that can be close friendships, social, anything connected to groups and social impact.

☉ 12th house

Reflects dynamics connected to the past and subconscious processes. Can be experienced as an ethereal, dreamy energy that can be difficult to put your finger on. Can awaken subconscious processes that you consciously do not have access to. It may be difficult to see this dynamic clearly but you can feel the deep connection. If both people have worked on their personal development it can be a very healing dynamic.

In general, the synastry horoscope suggests that the partner's sun placement in your 4th, 8th or 12th house indicates a more karmic dynamic. The placement of the nodes, Saturn and Chiron can also indicate stronger, subconscious ties.

While these indications may bring value and insights, they are very general. In a synastry horoscope multiple factors are involved when evaluation the compability of two people.

In astrology, the greatest lesson is one's own experiences and the ability to interpret patterns over time. There is no one truth, or one interpretation, but a guiding method for understanding how energies interact. You can therefore consider whether you have encountered a specific archetype during a certain period in life.
