Solar and Lunar eclipses
Solar and lunar eclipses are powerful periods when we go through significant changes and transformation, both collectively and individually. Eclipses are wild cards, catalysts that trigger powerful changes.
Think of the wheel of fortune in tarot, where changes can manifest with both surprising effect and significant turning points, perhaps in areas where we have experienced stagnation. A feeling that something greater is at play.
In astrology, eclipses have both a charged and mysterious association because significant changes and unexpected turning points often occur, not least in the collective. From a change perspective, it can provide a real push out of the comfort zone and a push towards the destination where the soul wants.
It also means that what is not going with us forward leaves, to make room for the new that is coming. This can be about relationships, jobs, moving, etc. If we have lost sense of direction, eclipses show us the way back to our path. They symbolize everything that feels destined.
Solar eclipse
Solar eclipses happen when the new moon falls near one of the moon's nodes. Symbolizes new beginning energy, opportunities and turning points. Since the sun is a masculine yang energy, it can often be related to more masculine energy and themes.
Lunar eclipse
Lunar eclipses happen when the full moon falls near the moon's nodes and symbolizes closing energy and decisive turning points. Here, things fall away and purification takes place. Since the moon is feminine yin energy, it is also often more emotionally charged. Not least because they bring closure.
Eclipse seasons
Eclipses always occur in pairs with two weeks between them, so-called eclipse seasons, and then it is six months until the next period. They occur in the two zodiac signs that are opposite each other on the zodiac axis, for example Pisces and Virgo, Aquarius and Leo. They tell us about the areas of life and themes that the changes are about.
Eclipses vary in intensity. Some are less intense while others are more powerful, like total eclipses. Most often we have four eclipses in a year, but sometimes a series of six, which means further acceleration and rapid changes. Eclipses can therefore be called extra powerful and potent new and full moons.

The Nodes 2026
At the moment the North Node is in Pisces and the South Node is in Virgo and we are collectively affected by their significant themes. If you have your personal moon nodes in the same sign, it becomes extra powerful and the lessons and development take place extra individually. You have a so-called nodal return. This summer the nodes change signs and the North Node enters Aquarius while the South Node enters Leo and a new phase of development begins.
On August 12, 2026 we have a total solar eclipse in the sign of Leo, followed by a partial lunar eclipse in Pisces two weeks later, on August 28, 2026.
